This privacy policy describes how llcformationcost.com (“we,” “us,” “the site”) collects, uses, and shares information about you when you visit, use the calculator, or interact with the AI advisor.

What we collect

Information you provide

When you use the LLC cost calculator, you enter:

  • US state of formation
  • Number of LLC members
  • Add-on service preferences (registered agent, EIN service, operating agreement, expedite, S-corp election)

When you use the AI advisor, you enter:

  • A 1-3 sentence business description
  • Home state(s) of you and any co-founders
  • Projected first-year revenue range (band, not exact figure)
  • Multi-state operations status
  • VC-raising plans

When you submit a correction or contact us:

  • Email address
  • Name (optional)
  • Message content

Information collected automatically

  • Standard server logs (IP address, user agent, page viewed, timestamp, referrer)
  • Cookie identifiers for ad personalization (Ezoic + Google AdSense)
  • Analytics events (Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymization)
  • Calculator and AI advisor usage telemetry (which steps you completed, no PII)

Information we do NOT collect

  • Your name in the calculator (the calculator never asks)
  • Your business name (calculator and AI advisor never ask)
  • Your SSN, EIN, or any tax-identifying number
  • Your bank account or payment information (the site has no payment processing as of 2026-04-25)
  • Your specific business address or any other PII unless you voluntarily provide it via email

How we use information

Calculator inputs

Used solely to compute the cost output. We do not store individual calculator inputs in a way tied to your IP — the inputs flow into the calculation engine, return the result, and are discarded from session storage when you close the tab.

AI advisor inputs

Used to generate the AI response. The response is cached in our backend (hashed by input + system prompt version) for performance — anonymized, not tied to you. Cache TTL: 30 days.

Server logs

Standard 90-day retention for security, debugging, and abuse prevention. Logs are not used for any individual user-tracking purpose beyond aggregate analytics.

Cookies

We use cookies for:

  • Ad personalization via Ezoic + Google AdSense (you can opt out below)
  • Analytics via Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymization
  • Calculator state preservation across page loads (technical, no PII)

How we share information

We do NOT:

  • Sell your personal information
  • Share your AI advisor inputs with third parties
  • Share your email address with anyone

We MAY share with:

  • Google (AdSense, Analytics) — standard tracking pixels with IP anonymization
  • Ezoic — ad serving infrastructure
  • Service providers under data-processing agreements (hosting on Cloudflare/Cloud Run, monitoring with Sentry, support routing through Linear)

When required by law: we will respond to valid legal process (subpoena, court order) but will challenge over-broad requests.

CCPA (California residents)

  • Right to opt out of sale (we don’t sell, but the opt-out is exercised by default)
  • Right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights

Children’s privacy

The site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe we have, email [email protected] and we will delete the data.

Data retention

  • Calculator inputs: in-memory only, discarded at session end
  • AI advisor cache: 30-day TTL
  • Server logs: 90 days
  • Email correspondence: until resolution of inquiry, then archived for 7 years (legal record-keeping)
  • Analytics aggregates: indefinite (anonymized, not tied to individuals)

Security

We use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest. The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages with Cloudflare’s DDoS protection. AI advisor backend runs on Google Cloud Run with IAM-based access control.

No internet-facing service is 100% secure. If you suspect a breach, email [email protected] immediately.

The site links to external sources (state SOS websites, IRS, FinCEN, etc.). Once you click an external link, this privacy policy no longer applies — the destination site has its own privacy policy.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy periodically. Material changes will be announced at the top of this page with a Last updated date. Non-material changes (typos, formatting) do not trigger announcements.
