Every number on the site is sourced directly from the state Secretary of State website that charges the fee — no aggregators, no AI-hallucinated numbers, no marketing pages dressed as guides.

What the site does

  • Calculator — input your state, members, and add-on choices; output year-one cost + 5-year cost of ownership with a citation under every line item.
  • State pages — 17 programmatic state pages (CA, TX, FL, NY, WY, DE, NM, IL, GA, OH, PA, AZ, CO, NC, VA, WA, MA) covering filing process, fees, and state-specific quirks.
  • Hubs — 6 topic hubs covering cost components, state comparison, entity comparison, filing process, FAQ/glossary, and tax/compliance.
  • Methodology — the full data-verification process and open CSV dataset published under CC BY 4.0.
  • AI Advisor (forthcoming) — a focused LLC formation cost advisor that recommends a state given your business description, projects 5-year cost, and produces a filing checklist. Bounded scope: it doesn’t give legal or tax advice.

Who’s behind it

Aissam Baidi — founder and researcher. I built this site after struggling to find a single trustworthy source on LLC costs while researching my own business formation in 2024. The aggregators were stale; the formation services were sales pages; LegalZoom’s guide was OK but written for conversion, not accuracy.

The site’s expert reviewer slot — a credentialed CPA or attorney — is open as of 2026-04-25 and being filled before v1 launch.
